Board of Adjustment

The Board of Adjustment hears and decides appeals where it is alleged there is error in any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by an administrative official in the enforcement of zoning law.  They hear and decide special exceptions to the terms of the ordinance upon which the board is requires to pass under the zoning ordinance. And they authorize, upon appeal in specific cases such variances from the terms of the ordinance as will not be contrary to the public interest, where owing to special conditions a literal enforcement of the provisions of the ordinance will result in unnecessary hardship, and so that the spirit of the ordinance shall be observed and substantial justice done.

Cemetery Board

The Cemetery Board oversees and maintains the Holstein Cemetery.  

Centennial Commission

The Centennial Commission deposits and invests the net proceeds from the Holstein Centennial celebration and shall determine what expenditures shall be made from such funds.

Chamber of Commerce

The purpose of the Holstein Chamber of Commerce is to unite the business and professional people of Holstein, to promote local businesses and to create an atmosphere for community betterment.

The Holstein Chamber members commit themselves to improving the Holstein community by supporting local events such as Kinderfest and the Pumpkin Parade, taking care of downtown planters, organizing local promotions, being visible in the community, and dispersing welcome baskets to new members of the Holstein community. 

Holstein Development Authority

The Holstein Development Authority is organized to initiate, coordinate and/or support the development efforts to achieve positive growth in the Holstein community and maintain or improve the quality of life for its residents.

Highway 20 Corridor Association

The Highway 20 project will be completed in October, 2018.  Holstein will host the ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, October 19th.  More details will be forthcoming.

Library Board

The Library Board is in charge and has direct supervision of the Library and its fixtures.  They are responsible to hire a Library Director and necessary staff to properly manage the Library. the librarian is authorized to select and make purchases of books, pamphlets, magazines, periodicals, papers, maps, journals and all other materials and fixtures within the budgetary limits set by the Board.

Planning and Zoning Commission

The Planning and Zoning Commission is appointed by the City Council to:  prepare the zoning ordinance, recommend proposed changes in zoning, and review and update the ordinance. They also prepare, recommend and maintain a comprehensive plan for the physical development of the community.

Recreation Board

The Recreation Board serves in an advisory role to the City Council relative to the needs of the Recreation Department.  The Commission recommends and reviews policies, rules, regulations, ordinances, fees, and budgets relative to the department.
