  • City announcements and local updates can be found on basic cable channel 3 or 3.3
  • City Council meetings are shown live on basic cable channel 3 or 3.3 and are rebroadcast on the third Monday of the month at 1 PM

Taxi

The City of Holstein offers a Taxi service within the city limits. Service is available Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM. Call City Hall 712-368-4898 to schedule a ride

Utilities

  • The City utilities include water, sewer, and storm sewer
  • Water meters are read monthly
  • Bills are mailed the first of the month, due the 15th, and if not paid, disconnect notices are sent on the 16th, which includes a $5 late fee.
  • Disconnection date is the 28th of each month. Reconnect fee is $60 plus past due charges

Garbage and Recycling

  • Holstein Sanitation, Inc. is the City's carrier and can be reached at 712-369-9792.
  • Garbage and recycling fees are billed along with the City utilities on the City monthly billing and paid to the City of Holstein
  • Recycling is mandatory. A blue tub is provided and should be left at the house if you move. If you do not recycle, your garbage will be left at the residence for you to separate properly and a citation can be issued.

Parking Restrictions

  • If you live in the residential area, there is "No Parking" on all streets from November 1 thru April between the hours of 1 AM to 5 AM
  • In the downtown area, there is "No Parking" year round between the hours of 1 AM and 5 AM.
  • Tickets for parking violations will be issued by the County Sheriff's Office.

Pets

  • All pets are required to be leashed. Pets are not allowed to run at large.
  • Dogs and cats need to be licensed with the City on a yearly basis. A current rabies vaccination is required for dogs. Registration fee is $15 each year beginning January 1st. A late fee of $7 applies after January 31.

General Questions

  • No open burning is allowed. The City designates certain times during the year for burning of yard and landscape wastes only. There is a designated disposal area at the lagoons for grass clippings, leaves and branches only during the rest of the year. In 2018 the Open Burning period has been set for October 4 through November 15.
  • Yards should be kept mowed and trimmed. If grass or weeds reach over 9" the City, per ordinance, has the right to mow it and assess costs to the property.
  • Grass clippings should now be blown out into the street
  • City Ordinance requires the clearing of snow and ice accumulations from sidewalks abutting your property within a reasonable time after the snow/ice event.
  • Tornado sired is tested the first Monday of each month. No "all clear" sign is given.
